Royal Food Show A Delicious Success!
On May 17th, hundreds of chefs, restaurateurs, and school nutrition directors filled Royal's makeshift conference hall for its Spring Local Food Show. A long red carpet led them from registration, through coolers,n and on to the show area. They sampled products from 44 local farms and producers. New meal ideas were gathered. Locally-grown products were dished up by our sales reps for the attendees. Valuable contacts were made. Everyone enjoyed the experience and said, when asked, "Let's do it again next year!". Royal Food Service Supplier Jaemor Farms Receives $5,000 Grant Award from Greener Fields Together/Cultivating Change
Atlanta, Georgia (Monday, December 19, 2016) - As part of its ongoing support for local Georgia farmers, Royal Food Service along with its supply chain partner PRO*ACT, has announced winners of its second Cultivating Change farm grant initiative. Among the 38 grant applicants, there were sixteen winners chosen and Jaemor Farms was among eight chosen by a review panel, receiving $5,000.00. An additional eight winners were determined by popular votes cast through the Greener Fields Together™ web site. In all, over $90,000.00 was awarded. This is the second year that local farmers have received grants through the Greener Fields Together™ sustainability and local produce initiative. Read more.
Giving Back Is Good!
We believe in local farming and we believe that supporting growers in our communities is the best way to ensure a future for food. Cultivating Change, the Greener Fields Together local farm grant program aims to fund projects or pursuits that will help local farmers do what they're best at: farming. Grant amounts from $3,000-$10,000 will be funded on an annual basis to qualifying growers through an online voting platform and industry review panel.

Greener Fields Together and Venkman's Hosts "Make Your Meals Matter" Brunch
On Saturday, July 23rd, foodies and environmentalists alike gathered at Venkman's in Atlanta, GA to celebrate the seasonal flavors of the Southeast region. Royal Scores 98% Two Straight Years on Third-party Food Safety Audit
This week Royal received another outstanding high score on its HACCP/GAP food safety audit performed by Primus GFS, one of the strictest third-party audits in the industry.
Primus GFS performs annual audits through their Auditing Operations division and considers our scores over the past three years to be superior. The scope of the audit includes storage and distribution operations and supporting processes such as repacking and splitting, incoming product and stored product inspections, product coding and tracking, temperature controls—all key elements of the standards defined by Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
Royal strives to meet high standards and practices, not only in matters of food safety, but in all areas of our business—from the products we pass on to our customers, to our level of customer service. Torbert Farms near Miami Works to Save Bean Crop from Flooding
Prices are rising due to heavy rain in South Florida as well as abnormally cold temperatures, resulting in quality and yield issues for squash, zucchini, tomatoes, and green beans. The system of rain and cold has made it virtually impossible to harvest to meet current market demand for these items.

We wish to publicly thank all those who recently joined Royal Food Service in helping two of our local farms, Jaemor Farms and StoneCreek Hydroponics, who applied to win a grant worth up to $10,000 to improve their farming operations by obtaining standards certifications or making improvements to infrastructure, capacity building, or marketing.
Thanks to your support through your daily voting, we're happy to report that Jaemor Farms was awarded a total of $13,000 and Stone Creek Hydroponics was awarded $3,000! The additonal $3,000 to Jaemor was for their finish in the popular vote! Both farms were among the top 10 chosen by an industry review panel!
The contest, Cultivating Change Grant Program, was sponsored by PRO*ACT's Greener Fields Together. Jaemor Farms made it to the top 10 and StoneCreek Hydroponics came in real close to the top ten as well. It could have not happened without your help. We thank you once again for your support!

- Prints to laser printers to minimize waste from unused paper forms
- Launched a web-based order system to reduce paper waste

Greener Fields Together™ Announces Cultivating Change Grant Program for Local Farms - Application Period is September 1, 2015 – October 31, 2015
Greener Fields Together™ (GFT), the sustainability and local produce initiative created by PRO*ACT, the produce supply-chain management company, is proud to announce Cultivating Change, a grant program for local farms. Through Cultivating Change, local growers are eligible to apply for grants ranging from $3,000 to $10,000. The grants will be funded on an annual basis to qualifying growers through an online voting platform and industry review panel. Read full press release.

Georgia Grown Commissioner Gary Black Praises Royal as Early Adopter of their Innovations at Test Kitchen Meeting
This meeting held at Royal Food Service on July 23, 2015 was a remarkable opportunity for Royal to meet with key leaders at Georgia Grown (Georgia Dept. of Agriculture), the Georgia Dept. of Education, and school nutrition directors from across Georgia, who discussed Georgia Grown's Test Kitchen program. The program will be conducted at selected Georgia schools to help improve nutrition for students and minimize the complexity of meal preparation in school kitchens. Read full news release.

Newton County Schools Chooses Royal
The Newton County School System is preparing to feed its students in the 2014-15 school year, approving various contracts at the Board of Education. Among them was Royal Food Service of Atlanta who was selected as the vendor of choice for providing produce and fresh eggs, with the contract becoming effective on June 25 and ending June 24, 2015. Romaine lettuce, apples, oranges, onions, nectarines and peaches are just a few of the produce items that Royal will provide.
